This week we’re taking on Fireflies by Owl City, the 2009 synth-pop hit that somehow made insomnia, ten million glowing insects and one bloke with a laptop into a worldwide phenomenon.

With Chibbs away, Bevo takes over the host chair as Gav and Mad Dog try to work out what Adam Young is actually talking about.

Why are the fireflies crying? How exactly do 10,000 lightning bugs give you 1,000 hugs? Why is the Earth apparently turning too slowly? And most importantly — why is he keeping some of the fireflies in a jar?

We also get into the ridiculous production behind the song, Owl City’s unlikely rise, whether Bevo could beat Adam Young in a fight, and one of the biggest disagreements we’ve had over a song in a long time.
